4-Ton Hot Box Trailer

The Falcon 4-Ton Hot Box trailer is Falcon’s most common machine model. It makes it easy for your work crews to repair utility cuts, patch asphalt and fix potholes. A wide range of equipment options provides unparalleled versatility.

The asphalt hot box and recycler allow workers to transport both hot and cold mix while keeping it at the optimal temperature during the day—and holding it overnight for up to 48 hours. When built with an optional second burner, it allows you to reclaim and recycle asphalt. This can provide your crew with access to hot-mix asphalt year-round.

Benefits of a Falcon 4-Ton Asphalt Hot Box

The main alternative to an asphalt hot box is utilizing a dump truck to transport asphalt to the job site. However, around 30% of hot mix cools in a dump truck before it can be effectively used in patching operations. This results in significant waste and financial loss over time. A Falcon Hot Box Trailer will keep the mixture at the optimum temperature while reducing waste. You can also recycle asphalt chunks and millings and reclaim unused hot mix with an optional dual burner system available on our 4 Ton Hot Box.

A standard dump truck has a raised bed that puts workers in an awkward physical position as they shovel asphalt mixture. Falcon Hot Box Trailers have an optimized shoveling height which results in less wear and tear on the backs, arms, and shoulders of your crew. This translates to increased productivity and fewer Workers’ Compensation claims.

Falcon Hot Boxes all come equipped with the industry largest material unloading door, making it easy to dump asphalt or have multiple people shoveling out of the hopper at the same time. Our heated shoveling apron extends seamlessly into the hopper allowing for easy access with a shovel for smaller repair jobs where the dump function is not being utilized.

How Do Falcon 4-Ton Asphalt Hot Boxes Work?

The main function of any asphalt hot box is to keep hot or cold mix asphalt at the optimal working temperature throughout the day.  Falcon’s patented heat management system allows us to create and maintain heat better than any other asphalt hot box on the market. Rather than firing our burner directly into the hooper walls, our diesel Beckett burner fires directly into our patented seamless one-piece combustion chamber that creates a tumbling action before pushing heat into the floor of the box.

A series of stainless-steel baffles help disburse the heat evenly throughout the floor of the box before allowing that heat to rise into the walls. Our walls are triple wall insulated and ensures that heat stays in the box while keeping the outside of the machine cool to the touch. You can heat hot or cold mix asphalt and hold it for up to 48 hours. Our 4 -Ton Asphalt Hot Boxes can be built with an optional second burner that fires directly into a cross chamber to heat the material in the middle of the Hot Box. This second burner allows you to use indirect heat to reclaim unused hot mix and recycle asphalt chunks and millings.
